powered by : 7 Peer Review methodology The Review Process Step 1: Regional authority indicates its interest in being a host region to the AER Secretariat Step 2: AER Secretariat issues a call for experts, identifies a multinational peer review team with relevant experience and nominates a team leader Step 3: AER Secretariat contacts all participating regions to arrange a mutually convenient date for the peer review

powered by : 8 Peer Review methodology Step 4: Host region completes preliminary questionnaire on its tourism policies and disseminates it to the peer review team, together with additional background information on its tourism policies Step 5: Review teams review information provided and provide host regions with a set of suggestions for meetings they would like to hold during the peer review Step 6: Host region agrees detailed timetable for the peer review with the review team leader

powered by : 9 Peer Review methodology Step 7: Host region sets up meetings for the peer review and arranges transportation, interpretation and accommodation Step 8: Review team spends one week in the host region undertaking the review Step 9: Review team prepares a draft set of recommendations for the host region, within one month of the review, on improving its tourism policies

powered by : 10 Peer Review methodology Step 10: The host region has two weeks to provide feedback on the draft report to the review team leader Step 11: The review team has an additional two weeks to incorporate the remarks of the host region and produce a final report Step 12: Host region presents recommendations to its political representatives and prepares action plan on implementation of the recommendations
