2. O BJECTIVES Students will label and interpret a specialty map. Students will map the founding and spread of Hinduism and Buddhism. Students will discuss the physical setting that supported the rise of civilization in India.

4. I NTRODUCTION In the India Geography Challenge, students will be learning about ancient India and the important role geography and religion played in shaping life there. This challenge will also introduce students to India’s location, highlight some of its major physical features, and explore the founding and spread of two of the world’s most influential religions: Buddhism and Hinduism.

5. D IRECTIONS You will be working in groups of two to complete the challenge Each pair will have a map master and start out with one challenge card You will read the question on the card and answer in complete sentence then you will follow the directions for labeling or coloring your map When you are finished with the card you have you may return the card to the card station and pick up a new one. Continue until you have completed all questions.
