JOIN THE POST 16 CENTRE & BECOME A KINGSWOOD PARTNERSHIP POST 16 STUDENT Get a copy of the KINGSWOOD PARTNERSHIP PROSPECTUS or look at it online – www.kingswoodpartnership.org.uk www.kingswoodpartnership.org.uk Attend the POST 16 OPEN EVENING Prepare in advance and ask questions! Find out about the courses available… www.kingswoodpartnership.org.uk Talk to relevant teachers Talk to advisers (Connexions interview application forms available from your tutor) Research into good combinations of subjects and where these might lead in the future Complete the Kingswood Partnership POST 16 APPLICATION FORM and have a successful POST 16 INTERVIEW GET THE NECESSARY GRADES! Look in the Kingswood Partnership Post 16 Prospectus for information about entry requirements

APPLY TO COLLEGE Get prospectuses from your tutor, careers teacher, or direct from the college – these are usually available from September Find out about and attend College Open Days / Evenings and discuss courses with college staff. Ask questions! Complete College application forms and attend interview – prepare in advance! (Use the skills you will develop when you practice your interview technique!) GET THE NECESSARY GRADES!

DO AN APPRENTICESHIP Find out about the apprenticeships available locally and think about the occupational area(s) you’re interested in (Partnership IAG website – apprenticeships) Take part in an APPRENTICESHIP i-careers WORKSHOP – think about what you’d like to know and find out by asking questions of real apprentices! Complete apprenticeship application forms and prepare for interview GET THE NECESSARY GRADES! (Lots of young people want Apprenticeship places – you’ll need to get good results)

GET A JOB WITH TRAINING Find out about LOCAL JOB VACANCIES (Evening Post, Job Centres, Agencies) What training is offered? Update your CV, practice completing application forms and make an extra effort when you do MOCK INTERVIEWS Apply for jobs that start from July 2012 GET THE NECESSARY GRADES!

TAKE A GAP YEAR OR DO VOLUNTARY WORK Find out about travel, employment and volunteering opportunities Plan out your activities and what you want to do at the end of the year Apply for volunteering, work, save and organise travel, etc… PLAN AHEAD – what will you do after your break from education or work? What skills will you develop that you can use in employment or education?
