COLLEGE OPEN DAYS
2
Ask yourself why you are going to an Open Day? What do you want to find out? Have you read the prospectus? Have you prepared questions?
3
There are large crowds at open days so arrive early! Have your questions prepared … Bring a notebook and pen (or your smartphone!) Take down names of lectures you meet or representatives from departments so you have contacts later … Get exact information on the course(s) you like
4
Talk to students who are studying the course(s) you are interested in … No question is too silly! In fact it is more silly not to ask any question! You are free to move around from stand to stand, so take your time and allow yourself to get all the information you need Listen to other questions being asked too!
5
DO … Prepare Read the prospectus Ask questions Take notes Get contacts Familiarise yourself with the campus, lecture theatres, clubs and societies, mardyke arena, student centre, accommodation services DON’T Arrive late Arrive unprepared Let others attend for you (i.e. your parents – come along with them) Overload with questions or expect very long chats (it’s a very busy day!)
6
Make sure you go there PREPARED with QUESTIONS to ask and come home with ANSWERS and CONTACTS information!!
