Great disparities exist in access to quality health care around the world Dynamic grassroots organizations are often challenged to meet the growing needs of their communities Students have the energy and passion to make a meaningful impact More opportunities needed for student engagement in global health

GlobeMed’s Network of 16 chapters is diverse and growing

GlobeMed’s Central Staff coordinates and supports the Network of Chapters 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation started in 2002 at Northwestern University National Headquarters is in Evanston, IL Annual Leadership Institute and Summit Central Staff provides advising and assistance to help chapters succeed

Chapters partner directly with a grassroots health organization working in communities around the world GlobeMed partnerships are rooted in the belief that local aspirations are a centripetal force behind community change Northwestern University- H.O.P.E. Center in Ho, Ghana Raised money to build infrastructure of H.O.P.E. Center Supporting a community-based nutrition program as well as assisting in data collection and evaluation H.O.P.E. Center

Chapters partner directly with a grassroots health organization working in communities around the world Truman State University- Maison de Naissance in Torbeck, Haiti Purchased a satellite dish for clinic’s new Community Health Center Entering and analyzing data collected in the community University of Michigan- Joy Southfield Health and Education Center in Detroit, Michigan Focusing on preventive measures to improve health of community Organizing and advertising for monthly health education sessions Volunteers outside Maison de Naissance

Penn State University- CURE International in San Pedro Sula, Honduras San Pedro Sula, Honduras Partner since 2006 Provide free pediatric orthopedic care Requires many clinic visits (pre/post-op, follow-up, etc) Patients too poor to travel to and from clinic Access Granted Fund Grants resources to CURE’s patients for transportation to and from the Leonardo Martinez Hospital Significantly increases many Hondurans’ access to health care

Our Impact Johny Alexander Duchenne Muscular dystrophy Lost the ability to walk at 5, now 11 years old Access Granted Fund provides him and his two sisters with resources for transportation and medical expenses Significantly improves his quality of life
