Overview of Teacher Evaluation Process Based on the Marzano Instructional Framework

Overview of Teacher Evaluation Process Evaluation decisions are recommended through a TEAM Committee (joint committee with district and teacher’s union representatives) In place for more than twenty years Joint committee that coordinates and monitors development and implementation of the teacher evaluation process Composed of an equal number of representatives from each party and includes teachers, principals, district administrators and LCEA (Lake County Education Association) leaders Meets regularly to review implementation of the new teacher evaluation system and to make recommendations for revisions as needed Has been instrumental in the ability of the new evaluation system’s move forward

Overview of Teacher Evaluation Process Use Truenorthlogic to track observations, provide scoring and data for evaluations, link data to PD, track certification and licensure, provide reports by individuals, schools and district-wide data Track your evaluations Track staff evaluations Link PD to evaluations Run Data Reports Track Certification and Licensure

Overview of Teacher Evaluation Process Yearly certification for all observers and ongoing Inter-Rater Reliability training Training Videos Assessment Results Create Assessments

Overview of Teacher Evaluation Process Moodle Site for Resources and Training

Truenorthlogic…Changing the way we do Business! Ease of Use for Teachers: Consistent method of evaluating teachers Ease of use for teachers – “One stop shopping” Past Evaluation Plans Current Evaluation Plans Deliberate Practice Plan (DPP) Observations (Formal and Informal) Pre/Post Conferences Instructional Practice Score (DPP and Observation Ratings) Summative Scores (DP, Observation Ratings and Student Performance Score) Professional Development Offerings match areas of need Current Certification and Licensure information Provides teachers with up-to-date data on their yearly performance Provides longitudinal data for teachers Links areas in need of improvement to district PD offerings

Truenorthlogic…Changing the way we do Business! Ease of Use for Evaluators and District Staff: Automates the calculation process Provides ability to track individual teacher, school or district data for PD purposes Provides historical view of teachers and schools Provides the opportunity to automatically send e-mail messages regarding re-certification and licensure expiration Allows system flexibility and modification, as well as support for district personnel on a regular basis Is available 24/7 both in-district or outside internet access

Evaluation - Best Practices Research-based instructional model (Marzano) Evidence-based model (teacher and student) Clear rubrics for each observation rating Triangulated data for evaluation measures (Observations, DPP, Student Performance Measures) PD linked to areas of need (teacher, school and district) Evaluation aligned to FL Standards and PD Data-based decision making Track observers to ensure Inter-Rater Reliability

Evaluation – Lessons Learned Joint TEAM Committee is critical to success Common language is needed between all district departments and schools Clear connections between curriculum, PD and evaluation must be made Aligning Courses to PD is difficult with so many course creators – initial and ongoing training is critical Inter-Rater Reliability certification and ongoing training is critical Ongoing training at the teacher-level is essential to teacher success Training through a variety of models is essential in a large district
