3. Early Childhood Harry Houdini, born Ehrich Weiss was born on March 25, 1842 in Hungary. Harry and his family moved from Hungary to Wisconsin because of his father’s job. He ran away from home at age 12 in 1856 to help his family, one year after his loveable father died.

4. Teenage Childhood He started trying and studying magic at age 13. Then he started working with his friend, Arthur. They performed their tricks at dime museums, charging 5 cents per trick.

5. Adult Life He got hired by Todd Beck, a person who ran shows in Broadway, New York. He performed escaping from handcuffs, after two months of training. He earned his highest salary of his life, ten thousand dollars a year in 1860.
