What are we learning? Our Standard Says Students will further develop their understanding of multiplication of whole numbers and develop the ability to apply it in problem solving by understanding the effect on the product when multiplying by multiples10. © 2012 Elizabeth Hill

What are we learning? I can correctly multiply a number by 10’s and 100’s numbers. © 2012 Elizabeth Hill

Let’s Review What are the 4 ways to show multiplication? Groups of 4 x 6 says 4 groups of 6 Rows of 4 x 6 says 4 rows of 6 Times I Add 4 x 6 says 4 times I add 6 Times I Count By 4 x 6 says 4 times I count by 6 © 2012 Elizabeth Hill

Can you use what you know to find the missing numbers? Hint Find which factor is easiest to count by: the one on top or the one on bottom. © 2012 Elizabeth Hill

What are mulitples of 10? The multiplies of 10 are the numbers you get when counting by 10. © 2012 Elizabeth Hill

To be able to multiply by multiples of 10, you have to know your basic facts. 30 x 6= 50 x 3= 400 x 7= 800 x 4= © 2012 Elizabeth Hill

You can also use a multiplication chart to find the answer to a multiplication problem. Let’s use the chart to find some products! Find the answer to 4 x 6= Find the answer to 8 x 7= Find the answer to 3 x 9= © 2012 Elizabeth Hill

Thank you for purchasing from Tricks of the Trade. I use this Powerpoint presentation in my classroom as a 3 day unit. I focus on using the multiplication chart for the first day. The next day I teach the song and practice with multiplies of tens. The final day we practice multiplying with multiples of one hundred. I use several games and other activities that you can find in my store in my TpT store. I also use several videos which you can see on my blog at http://tricksoftheteachingtrade.blogspot.com http://tricksoftheteachingtrade.blogspot.com or “Like” my Facebook https://www.facebook.com/tricksoftheteachingtrade © 2012 Elizabeth Hill: Tricks of the Teaching Trade.
