History and Development of the Scorecard 2004 California State Assembly Bill1417 Establishment of the Accountability Reporting for the Community Colleges (ARCC) program 2011 Establishment of the Student Success Task Force to increase completion rates among California Community College students 2012 Student Success Task Force recommended the development of a student success scorecard The ARCC Technical Advisory Workgroup reconvened to design the Scorecard 2013 Scorecard report produced annually by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office

California Community Colleges Student Success Scorecard An accountability framework that is comprised of a common set of outcomes metrics for all California community college system and its 113 colleges. Performance of each college (Scorecard) Online querying through Datamart Raw datasets through Data- on-Demand The state of the system overall Framework

The Scorecard Completion (SPAR) Remedial Progress Rate Math English ESL Persistence Rate 30 Units Rate Career Technical Education (CTE) Rate Career Development and College Preparation (CDCP) Rate College Profile Track cohorts of students over six years to measure outcomes Performance of each college (Scorecard)

The Student Equity Plan: Title 5§54220 In order to promote student success for all students, regardless of race, age, gender, disability or economic circumstance, each college must maintain a student equity plan which includes: 1. Campus Based Research 2. Goals for: ACCESS COURSE COMPLETION ESL & BASIC SKILLS COMPLETION DEGREE & CERTIFICATE COMPLETION TRANSFER 3. Action Plan

Pros and Cons of the Scorecard Benefits of the Scorecard Readily available Common framework Comparability The Scorecard is a great source of data BUT... The data is old Do we really have to wait 6 years before we can measure the effect of our current efforts?
