Analyze/Evaluate environmental and economic data for 2 countries Determine whether the countries are on a sustainable path for future growth Assess the effects of consumerism on the country Environmental/Economic issues are often intertwined!

Evaluate World Bank’s definition of countries as developed/developing Describe the role of consumerism Evaluate the sustainability of the countries Develop collaboration/communication skills Use technology in a practical sense Deepen critical thinking skills

Research research research! – We have created research guides to send you in the right direction – You may find other topics as well! Present information in the form of a video comparing the two countries Turn in a written script/essay that summarizes data and points of view

Basically, consumers drive the economy, not suppliers Relies on free-market principles Often used in a negative connotation

Pros Prices reflect demand for goods Suppliers produce what society needs/wants Increases consumer satisfaction Drives GDP higher Cons In richer countries, can create unnecessary products, which drain resources Increases waste Drives prices higher, typically Economy ebbs and flows on consumer behavior Discourages saving!!!!!

Living off of our planet’s natural resources without using them up. Living within a balance between what we need and what the Earth can provide us.

A measurement of how much carbon containing pollutants we release into the atmosphere. These pollutants are related to climate changes such as global warming.

The criterion for classifying economies as either developing or developed is based on a country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), GDP is the value of all goods and services produced in the country’s borders. GDP per capita is even more accurate because it takes the GDP and divides it by the population of a country, thereby, calculating the productivity per person.

You have Today, Friday, and Monday to research NEXT Monday and Tuesday we will be back in the media center/lab 407. At that time, you should have all your research completed and begin working on a script/filming The actual due date is somewhat pending, depending on how things go, but we are aiming for Nov. 1 st !
