5 How do I know which endorsement the college wants?  The FHSP diploma is still very new. Colleges are still likely to look at specific core courses taken, the rigor of those courses, student GPA, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities, and student involvement to evaluate the student on an individual basis. Students and parents need to be aware of any admission requirements for the university or college they plan to attend.  Many of the endorsements can satisfy the recommended coursework for most universities. Students have been encouraged to take the most rigorous coursework they can comfortably handle based on their academic skills and planned activities.

6 What if I can’t decide….. or I want to have two endorsements?  You’ll have to choose one by Feb 4.  Remember, you can change it this time next year….and the year after….but then you’ll have to stick with it so you have time to earn the endorsement!  Depending on which two endorsements you want, it will take careful planning.  What is YOUR PURPOSE of having two? This is not a contest. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be.

7 So….how do we do this?  Explore Career Cruising and discover possible Career Clusters based on your interests.  Use the Parent/ Student Guide to the FHSP to match the Career Cluster(s) to the appropriate endorsement(s).  Use the Parent/ Student Guide to the FHSP to help choose the courses to satisfy the requirements of the endorsement area.  Review your READISTEP test results. You will get on Jan 30.  Transfer the courses for the endorsement to the 4 year plan.  Enter the 4 year plan into Career Cruising (My Course Plan) by Feb 4.  Complete the HS registration paperwork by Feb 4.  Research potential Universities, Colleges and/ or Junior Colleges to confirm the required courses for admission by 10 th grade.  Finalize the endorsement by the end of 10 th grade.
