German Christmas

The people in Germany celebrate when Jesus was born. The people gather and have parties through out the day. The parents decorate secretly and when the six o’clock bell rings they see the great decorations.

On Christmas Eve St. Nicholas rides on a white pony and brings gifts and candy. He puts the candy in the kids’ shoes.

The German’s celebrate on December 24 and December 25. They eat carp ( fish ) and ginger bread cookies. They also eat goose, duck, and turkey.

Symbols The symbols are red ribbons for happiness and a candle to represent the North Star. The Christmas tree originated in Germany.
