2 Our Design A portable, single-cable, USB design that allows digital playing and recording of FM radio on a PC

5 FM Problems Designed three different milled boards Could not get assistance from Philips Using hand entered control data Last Semester

6 FM Current Solutions Fourth revision – Professionally Made Using a commercial board as eval. board Created Assembly language parallel port control program This Semester

7 FM Current Status FM board receives and demodulates radio signals for a search function within the oscillator range.

8 Future Tasks Correctly Tuning local oscillators Verifying proper tuning range Evaluate need for EMI shielding

10 USB Problems Only one board was milled and populated Computer Recognition of an audio device was inconsistent I 2 C EEPROM unable to be programmed Last Semester

11 USB Current Solutions New board made and professionally printed Completely new test plan created Board is planned to have at least one more revision This Semester

12 USB Current Status The USB board is being recognized by the PC consistently. I 2 C EEPROM needed to store the UDA1325 configuration map can successfully be programmed. Creating a proper configuration map that has all the initial settings is underway.

13 Future Tasks Complete Testing Programming EEPROM Sending command data to UDA1325

14 Software - Functions Tune to station Play audio signal Record audio signal to hard disk

15 DirectX parallel with Windows API Researching DirectX Can read and write to USB device via Windows API Software – Current Status

16 Packaging PCBs with surface-mount technology Preliminary exterior packaging is being researched
