3 Joanne Boyes and Kevin Reece are the college’s careers advisers. You can book an appointment to see them at any college reception ( for a free lesson – don’t miss lessons!) For quick queries Joanne is usually free at 11:30 break and lunchtimes to just pop in. They are based on the ground floor in the Duncan Lawton building.

4 Careers Advisers can help you by… Talking through your career ideas Helping you to put yourself into a stronger position to get into competitive careers Helping you to overcome hurdles or consider new paths They can compliment what you do in tutorial and your own individual research but not replace it!

7 And you may find some newer jobs aren’t on this website yet so there are more than this.

8 Most people know about potential kinds of jobs by Contact with people who do them Through family, friends & acquaintances Being made aware TV, film, books, magazines, websites etc Most people have a relatively limited idea about what they could potentially do

Know about more types of job The more jobs you know about, the more choices you give yourself and you are more likely to make a good decision about what to do. Know more about the type of job you want to do So you have a better chance of putting yourself into a stronger position to get to do it

15 The Careers Blog has varied careers news. Check it regularly.

16 Today find National Careers Service Careers Advice Job Profiles

17 The Know is open Monday to Thursday - 8.20 – 5.00 & Friday – 8.20 – 4.30 to access paper resources Ask for help when you need it. Employers and admissions tutors like proactive people who help themselves! Too soon to plan, it will never be.
