Level I Fieldwork It is not intended to develop independent performance, but to “include experiences designed to enrich didactic coursework through directed observation in selected aspects of the occupational therapy process” (ACOTE, 2006).

Level I Fieldwork Qualified personnel for supervision of Level I fieldwork includes, but is not limited to: OTs and OTAs Psychologists, Physician assistants, teachers, social workers and physical therapists Each level I fieldwork has specific objectives and assignments which will be reviewed prior to starting the rotation.

Level I - Objectives To provide the student with the opportunity to apply and practice the skills learned in the academic coursework with actual patients/clients/consumers. To provide verification of the knowledge acquired in the academic setting. To provide the opportunity for students to expand the knowledge acquired in the academic setting. To provide the student with the opportunity to develop the interpersonal skills and attitudes necessary for effective interaction

Level I - Objectives To provide students with constructive criticism on their professional performance and to assist the student in developing strategies to use this feedback to modify and improve their professional performance. To promote the student ‘s development of self- evaluation & problem-solving skills. To provide the student with role models in direct service to patients, clients, and consumers. To assist in the transition from the role of student to the role of an occupational therapy practitioner.

9 Pre-requisites Completion of two online courses are required prior to fieldwork: HIPAA Regulation HIPAA Regulation HIV-AIDS - Blood borne Pathogens - Universal Precautions HIV-AIDS - Blood borne Pathogens - Universal Precautions Certificate of Completion will be awarded to those students who obtain 80% of the questions correct.

Immunizations All students are responsible for having ‘paper proof’ of their current immunizations. These must include MMR, Varicella, PPD, Hepatitis B, etc. Current CPR 10

Next week…week of Feb 27th Stop by my office to get a self addressed, self stamped envelope so that you provide it along with the STUDENT PERFORMANCE EVALUATION to your FWE during the first day in the clinic.
