1 Veterans Ocean Adventure Veteran Opportunities at Shake-A-Leg Miami Vet Center Outings Sailing/Instruction Kayaking Fishing Diving Marine Trade School Volunteering In partnership with Shake-A-Leg Miami, VOA seeks to provide opportunities for Veterans to experience the healing power of water. 2 Vision: Create an opportunity for disabled veterans to experience open ocean sailing, cruising and diving through a partnership with Shake-A-Leg Miami and the Wounded Warrior Project. Once Wounded Warrior Project participants have completed the Shake-A-Leg Introduction to Water Sports program and express a desire to advance to blue water sailing, the Veterans Ocean Adventure Sailing Foundation provides an introduction to cruising in the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. Select participants may continue on to join a leg of an ongoing world circumnavigation. Through partnerships with Shake-A-Leg Miami, the Miami Veterans Center, Diveheart Military Wounded, Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba (SUDS), the Wounded Warrior Project and Seattle VFW Post 4137 offer ocean adventures and marine trade opportunities to veterans. 3 Progress to Date Established a partnership with Shake-A-Leg Miami Obtained American Sailing Association Instructor Qualifications Established a partnership with Miami Veterans Center Completed Disabled Dive Training First Vet Center Sunset Sail 1 Oct Way Ahead Establish Veterans Ocean Adventures as a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization Complete Dive Master Certification Formalize Relationship with Wounded Warrior Project and SUDS Assist Shake-A-Leg Miami obtain State Certification for trade school (to satisfy GI Bill requirements) Schedule follow on activities with Miami Vet Center Promote at Miami Boat Show Diveheart Instructor Class Branson preparing to take Carrie Grusom, a paraplegic, diving.
