Holocaust Basics The Holocaust is the systematic genocide of over 6 million Jews during World War II However others such as gypsies, homosexuals, and the handicap were also victims of the Nazi led genocide.

Holocaust Timeline Hitler came to power in Germany in 1933 Just months after he became chancellor Nazis began boycotting Jewish shops and businesses in the years following things continued to get worse for Jews Nuremberg Laws: antisemitic laws passed in Germany in 1935 denying Jews of several basic rights such as banning marriage or sexual intercourse between a Jew and non- Jews.

Timeline Cont. From 1935-1939 numerous laws were passed further banning and alienating Jews from the rest of German society 1939-1941 confining Jews to ghettos 1941-1944 Jews are rounded up and killed or sent to concentration camps and used for their labor or killed at the camp 1944-1945 Liberation by Allies

Dehumanization Dehumanization-denying humanity, to treat them as sub-human Example 1: The Nazis giving and referring to Jews by a number instead of their name Example 2: Slavery, treating people as property that can be bought and used Example 3: Making fun of someone for their beliefs or opinion
