Research findings Majority of pupils in one school were < 1 year in England when going to do their GCSE Some pupils have not even been in education before due to conflict in country of birth Many parents spoke poor or no English Many parents aspire to good education for their children Responses of schools to research varied from none to excellent Community & voluntary organisations vital support

In summary Poverty, urban deprivation including low level of education major challenges for regeneration Education attainment is everyone’s business 4 key players for improvement in education attainment include; pupils, parents, LEA (schools), community voluntary sector
