Presentation on theme: "Pathological dental abrasion of dental hard tissues"— Presentation transcript:

1 Pathological dental abrasion of dental hard tissues
Pathological dental abrasion of dental hard tissues. Orthopedic treatment methods.

2 Dental abrasion is the defect of enamel and dentin of the teeth, that appears without microbs participation and without softening of hard tissues

3 Age-related changes of dental hard tissues
А – Crown abrasion in different age; Б – Types of abrasion: а -vertical; б – horisontal

4 Etiology & Pathogenesis
The teeth abrasion after Shczerbakov is devided into: Congenital – as a result of enamelo- & dentinogenesis violations, HereditaryСпадкові – disease of Capdepon etc Acquired – neurodistrofical changes, violations of functions of circulatory system, metabolic disorders.

5 Classification of pathological abrasion of the teeth:
І stage – abrasion of cusps and cutting edges (up to 1/3 of crown height), ІІ stage – abrasion of teeth progresses up to the contact areas (1/3 - 2/3 of crown height), ІІІ stage – abrasion of the teeth reaches gums (more than 2/3 of crown height).

6 Forms of pathological abrasion of the teeth:
Vertical, Horizontal, Mixed.

7 Types of pathological abrasion of the teeth:
Local Generalized І group – patients with the whole teeth row abrasion, but without decreasing of the lower third of the face. It is compensated with alveolar bone growing. ІІ group – decompensated form.

8 Methods of diagnostic of pathological abrasion of the teeth & its complications:
Patients complains Examination of the face & oral cavity Gypsum models examination X-ray of the teeth, jaws and temporomandibular joint (TMJ)

9 Treatment of beginning form of pathological abrasion without TMJ disorders:
Production of metal inlays, or cast metal crowns on the molars & premolars and their antagonists on both sides. Treatment of gyperesthesia ( desensitizing substances, pastes with fluoride, electrophoresis of 10% solution of CaCl, calcium gluconate)

10 Treatment of the pathological abrasion of the teeth wiothout defects of teeth rows
In I visit – if there is no pathology of TMJ – with the help of crowns, halfcrowns, metalic inlays etc and with arising of the bite on 2-3 mm. In II visits – TMJ disfunctions – with the help of dental burls and rational prosthesisng.

11 Treatment of II-III stages of pathological abrasion
Normalization of the height between alveolar bones of upper and lower jaw, correction of lower jaw localization in different directions, and rebuilding of the chewing muscle functions, Rational prosthesing of the teeth rows.
