3  The main focus in class was how to take exams and do well on them. Most of their work was done in writing and most of their time was spent studying. There was little exposure to a computer.  At home Taylor says he sometimes used the computer but not very often because he spent the majority of his time doing school work and studying  Although Taylor did not spend much time using technology, he believes it is important in the classroom. He says that by using computer resources in the classroom, he can understand main points more clearly and the visuals help support this.  Taylor has found many electronic resources to use while he has been here in the United States. Some of which include: an electronic dictionary, computers, cell phones, and cameras. 2

4  Taylor comes from a place called Datong. It is located in the northern part of Shanxi  Datong is known for its historic sites:  Yungang grottoes-Datong has 53 grottoes which are cave clusters  Hanging Monestary-it hangs on the west cliff of Jinxia Gorge more than 50 meters above the ground. It has been there for over 1400 years. It is an attraction because includes Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.  Wooden Pagoda- the Wooden Pagoda is the oldest and highest wooden structure in China. 5 Because Taylor’s father is a successful business man, his mother has been able to stay At home and be a housewife. His father supports the family financially and so he is well off at home in China. It has given him the opportunity to come to America for a better education One day Taylor too, hopes to become a successful businessman and follow in his fathers footsteps. 4

6  The subjects of high school are similar to ours. They include: Math, Chinese, English, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Physical Education  At the end of their high school career, they are able to take that exam that they have been preparing for, that tells you where you should go for college and what level you are at.  In China, they value education very highly and parents work hard to ensure that their child is able to go to a good school and succeed. 5

8  Taylor spent most of his weekend and leisurely time with tutors and studying.  Now in the United States, he has become a big fan of online games and video games.  He has always enjoyed listening to music, or watching T.V. as well as reading a book.  At SNHU he enjoys swimming and playing basketball 7

10 TTaylor believes his experience here so far has been beneficial. He has met some great friends but wishes to make more American Friends MMore importantly has improved his English HHe plans to use his international business degree back home in China and eventually start his own business TTaylor says that the business education here is better than in China and it is at a much more high pace which is why he is studying in the U.S. TThe living here is much different he says especially the transportation and the population. OOne thing that is similar is the weather 9
