First Event: It is April 27th, 1921 and WWI has been over for a few years. Things are starting to recover from the war where you live. Rumors of new governments forming in various European countries are taking place but nothing final yet. What do you think about these events and what do you think will be coming next? (Journal entry must be at least one page long. Try to stay in the event and pretend to not know about the future!!)

Second Event The date is July 1, 1940, and WWII has been going on for about 10 months now. Germany has had many early successes, gaining much territory in Europe. Once considered a major world power, France has fallen to the Germans, and the British stand alone as Germany’s last opposition. The future of Europe, and possibly the world, looks grim. Rumors of imprisonment and execution of certain groups, especially the Jews, are starting to surface. What is your reaction to these events? What are your hopes for the future at this moment in history? (Journal entry must be at least a page long. Try to stay in the event and pretend to not know about the future!!) Copy underlined text in your notebook

Third Event Copy underlined text in your notebook The date is December 10 th, 1941. A few days ago, Japan attacked a U.S. Naval Base in Hawaii. You don’t know a whole lot about the U.S. but you do know they have declared war on Japan, Germany, and Italy. Growing up you heard stories of how the U.S. helped end WWI and you know they are a strong country. What are your feelings about them entering the war and what impact is it going to have on your life and your country’s? (Journal entry must be at least a page long. Try to stay in the event and pretend to not know about the future!!)

Fourth Event Copy underlined text in your notebook The date is February 8 th, 1943. The Battle of Stalingrad had been going on for 6 months and is finally over. The Soviet forces have defeated the Germans and push them back towards retreat. This was a major turning point in the war. What hope or despair does your character feel after these events? What impact does the result of this battle have on their life? (Journal entry must be at least a page long. Try to stay in the event and pretend to not know about the future!!)

Fifth Event The date is September 5th, 1945. World War II has officially come to a close in all major theaters of battle. In Europe the Nazis have surrendered and their leader, Adolf Hitler, has taken his own life to avoid capture. The world has witnessed the horrors of The Holocaust after the liberation of Nazi concentration and death camps. The Fascists in Italy have been overthrown, and Benito Mussolini was executed. In Asia the Japanese have officially surrendered after the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The United States and the Soviet Union emerge from the war as mankind’s first “super powers.” What are your thoughts on the outcomes of World War II? How should the Allies punish Germany this time? What do you think is going to happen to the world, and mankind, in the aftermath of the most destructive war in the history of man? (Journal entry must be at least a page long. Try to stay in the event and pretend to not know about the future!!) Copy underlined text in your notebook
