Charter By April 30 th, 2008, we will have designed and installed a system that will allow Green Mountain Dairy to quickly and easily access engine/generator data and diagnostics. The data will come from existing sensors, as well new sensors that will be added. These sensors include a gas flow meter, a Btu meter, and several thermocouples. A programmable logic controller (PLC) will receive sensor inputs and output data to an intelligent platform. This platform will store and display the data from the engine/generator system. In addition, it will connect to a wireless LAN device so that data can be accessed remotely from a P.C. in the farm office. From the P.C., information will be sent to an online database which will be accessible through an interface created with PHP and MySQL. A final important feature we will incorporate in the system is a P.C. based autodialing service that will call and alert someone when data values fall outside their normal range.
