4 WHEN TO CONSIDER BUYING INSURANCE “I have started a business, when do I need insurance?” You have a registered corporation, company or are an individual conducting regular activities of a business nature. You handle revenue either for profit or non-profit purposes. You have 1 or more persons working for you on your payroll at total of 22 ½ hours weekly, for a minimum of 13 weeks per year. You are bidding, either verbally or in writing, or have a desire to bid on contracts for work.

5 BASIC INFORMATION YOUR AGENT WILL REQUIRE Projected 1 year gross receipts from operation. Projected 1 year payroll amount. Federal Identification Number (SSN for individuals). Some form of financial report – balance sheet, income & expense, business plans or audited financials. Any information about previous policies, including any loss history available.

6 WHAT TO EXPECT Select a capable, experienced agent that you can trust. Any information collected for insurance purposes is held in strict client/agent confidentiality. Be prepared to give full disclosure regarding your business. Be prepared to fill out various applications. (Remember, documents filled out for insurance are a reflection of your company, and should be typed). Expect quotations for your consideration in 5 to 7 working days from the time your agent receives all requested data.
