5
We live in a digital world where computers are part of student's daily lives.
6
To be successful in this world, we need to allow students to use the technology so they can explore, discover, question, evaluate, create and communicate in the information age.
7
With a progressively competitive global economy, we know it is imperative to provide children new, innovative and hands-on educational materials and subjects to spark their interests in all subjects .
8
During Academic Learning Life, where do Students spend most of their time?
In the School
9
Where do students spend most of their Academic Learning Time?
Inside the school… Where do students spend most of their Academic Learning Time? Inside the four walls of classrooms!
10
However classrooms have remained untouched by technology.
Over the last few decades, everything has changed in our lives with the all pervasive intervention of technology. However classrooms have remained untouched by technology. The classrooms that our grandparents went to are exactly the kind of classrooms our children study in. Chalk and blackboard, a packed classroom, text books, regimented curriculum, a teacher takes pain in explaining abstract concepts with the limited tools
11
The students listen to the teachers, try to decipher the figures drawn on the blackboard and read from their text books, take notes and try hard to visualize how it happens and remember. At the end of the class, the teacher asks a few random questions to assess how the class fared. Invariably a few hands (mostly of the same set of brightest students in class), go up, the answers are given and the class ends.
12
Technology integration brings about a complete transformation in classrooms.
13
Concept of Technology Enabled Classrooms
14
The concept of smart classrooms does not completely do away with the traditional method of teaching.
Rather it seeks to club the use of technology with conventional methods. The resultant product is a harmonious blend of the modern and the traditional.
15
For instance, the Science teacher while explaining how a DNA replicates is able to show the class a 3D animation of the DNA replication process on a large screen. The teacher can explain the fine points of the process, zoom in to show the relevant visuals, freeze and annotate when and where he/she needs to emphasize.
16
Similarly the History teacher shows the class a virtual walk through of the Harappan Civilization. Uncovering the relevant parts step by step as a part of her lesson plan.
17
while the Geography teacher shows a virtual Block mountain being formed…all with engaging animations, colors, music, sounds and voice. The teachers gain complete attention and interest of every child in the class.
18
NEED AND IMPORTANCE
21
Educational technology helps teachers to use digital resources as graphics, animations, 3D images and video clips in addition to Chalk and talk methods of teaching in their day to day teaching life.
22
This new, innovative and revolutionary teaching methodology not only helps students to understand and follow difficult topics but also makes them interesting and attention-grabbing.
23
Through Interactive Digiboard systems, the retaining power of students increases twenty times as compared to conventional chalk and talk method.
24
Students gain a better understanding of difficult curriculum concepts in the class, resulting in their improved academic performance at school.
25
The teachers gain complete attention and interest of every child in the class.
Every child gets a visual input on how it happens and The concepts Are well understood and internalized.
26
Requirements for Technology Enabled Classrooms
27
The technological innovations that are being applied in the field of education, especially in classroom situations, are serving as catalyst for the process of teaching and learning. There is not a set list of requirements for a Technology Enabled classroom. The equipments being used will vary from one institution to another according to the felt needs of the teachers as well as the students, and more importantly according to the amount of money the school management is ready to shell out for such infrastructure .
28
The equipments used in a Technology Enabled classroom:
29
Computer Aided Instruction PowerPoint Presentation
Multimedia PCs Internet Computer Aided Instruction PowerPoint Presentation Video Cassette Recorder VCR), Digital Video Disc (DVD) players, Computers, Overhead Projector (OHP)
30
Methods of teaching Modern education tools are used in the class by teachers and students like, graphics, sound, animations and videos.
31
Planned lesson are taught through smart class equipped with connected computers, large screen plasma display devices.
32
The benefits of this system
33
Builds teacher effectiveness and productivity through multimedia digital tools such as animation clips, videos, pictures diagrams and working models.
34
Teaching becomes easy & enjoyable, concept based and child oriented
35
Burden free teaching and deep learning skills.
36
It increases retention power of the students, by stimulating 100% brain usage.
37
It helps the teachers to complete the syllabus faster and more effectively.
38

It improves the results of the school significantly by reducing the no. of low rankers and increasing the no. of star performers.
39
It is the need of the hour, otherwise, the school may well get left behind in this world of advanced technology if it keeps on clinging to chalk and board method.
