What is the stock market? Definition: (n.)stock exchange(n.)The business transacted at a stock exchange.(n.)The prices offered for stocks and bonds in general: a rising stock…stock exchange Basically, what this is saying that a stock market is a place where people can buy and sell stocks. *side note*: stocks are pieces of a company that you can buy or sell to make money.

When did the stock market begin operating? Europe The 1700s Started in the U.S. in the early 1790s.

What is meant by the word “share”? Definition: An equal part of a corporation that is held by a stockholder as well as the contribution of the portion. It is basically a stock, or a part of a company that anyone can own.

What does it mean to own “stock”? It means that you own a part of a company, and you get a certificate, and you can sell it, depending on how much it costs at the present time.

Why do people invest in the stock market? People invest in the stock market because the average annual growth of companies in the stock market is five-hundred to eight percent. Buyers earn money by purchasing stock for long-term investments with tips from a personal financial adviser in this free video on stocks and investments.

Who is allowed to trade stocks? Any stock owners are allowed to trade stocks.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of investing in the stock market as opposed to keeping your money in the bank? Advantages: you can earn more money, it’s a gamble; you can feel more of a thrill, you can manage your money more easily. Disadvantages: if stock goes down, you lose money, and if it crashes (1930s) you can lose all of the money you had in the stock market.

Oracle Corporation The symbol is ORCL. I chose Oracle Co. because it is a Greek myth, (the oracle) and I love Greek myths. Oracle Co. is a company that sells computer database equipment, and it is very interested in keeping the company green by using solar energy instead of other non-green products.

McDonalds The symbol is MCD. McDonalds is a fast-food chain that serves burgers, chicken nuggets, french fries, and other fast food. It is a nationwide restaurant that services everyone at a low price, with speedy and friendly service.

Gap The symbol is GPS. Gap is a store that comes in baby gap, gap kids, and gap outlet. It has many clothes in different colors and patterns. The company is nationwide, and is found in most malls/strip malls.

Kohls The symbol is KSS. Kohls is a department store, that sells many things, and is quite a large chain store. It sells clothing to women and men of all shapes and sizes, and has a reasonable price for it. It can be found in most malls around the country.

Nordstrom’s The symbol is JWN. Nordstrom’s is a clothing store found in most large cities across the nation, and has a large selection of fabrics to choose from. It has special tailors to make sure the customer is completely satisfied.

Coach The symbol is COH. Coach is a company that mostly deals out bags, but also sells other accessories. It is made out of very nice fabric, but costs a lot of money. You would be able to find a Coach by looking in a mall in a rather large city.
