Determining Text Complexity A Lexile text measure is determined by word frequency sentence length. Many other factors affect text complexity, the structure of the text language usage the levels of meaning the appropriateness of the content the age and interests of the reader When choosing appropriate texts, the Lexile score is a good starting point, but other factors must be considered.
