2 Patient Web Application Referring organisations will also be able to unlock locked referrals. Locked Referrals The ability for patients to book any service on their shortlist of services even after it has been booked/deferred. Improvement to the Patient Web Application Click on the heading of any item for a fuller description

3 Patient Web Application – New Removing Patient Lock NHS e-Referral Service uses record locking to protect the confidentiality of a patient's appointment requests. Sometimes patients inadvertently “lock” their referral by entering the wrong password multiple times, or closing the browser midway through the booking process. As a security measure, this lock remains in place for at least 30 minutes. After 30 minutes of inactivity the lock is removed but this is not always obvious to patients. Patients can now ask either contact: The Appointments Line, on 0345 608 8888;or Their GP/referring practice who can both remove the record lock, which will let patients complete their appointment booking. Back to list of changes

4 Patient Web Application – Improvement The following improvement has been made for patients trying to book an appointment on the patient web application: Rebooking Appointments Historically, it is not possible for the patient to change to another service using the PWA once their appointment had been booked. In NHS e-Referral Service, the full shortlist of services the patient is referred to will now always be available for booking and rebooking via the PWA. Benefit: Less frustration for patients using the Patient Web Application. Back to list of changes
