Coliform Bacteria It is the commonly-used bacterial indicator of sanitary quality of foods and water. They are defined as rod-shaped Gram- negative non-spore forming organisms. One of the things that come up often when testing is E. Coli

E. Coli or Fecal Coliform = 2 Colonies Colonies per mL (CFU/mL) Water quality index 91 Total Coliform Colonies = 7 Colonies per mL (CFU/mL)

The indicator for water stands with maximum allowable counts is 200 FC (fecal coliforms) per 100 mL.
