2. Why a team approach? All children have multiple needs. Different professionals provide information about the child that is helpful for all to know. Sharing knowledge about the students helps all professionals to see the whole child.

IDEA requires all children diagnosed with a disability to have an IEP (Individual Education Program/Plan) Physical Education must be part of the IEP Consultation with other professionals provides a broader understanding of the student’s needs and abilities.

6. Why should the Physical Education teacher be on the team? The PE teacher can use techniques and strategies used by other professionals to provide consistency for the student. The PE teacher offers to the team information about the content taught in the curriculum. Share successes with all professionals and parents.
