2 Early Life Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15th, 1929
He was born in Atlanta

3 Early Life He had one older sister, Willie Christine King.
He also had a younger brother, Alfred Daniel King.

4 Early Life Martin Luther King started his education at Yonge Street Elementary. He attended Booker T. Washington High School. Dr. King also attended Moorehouse College.

Martin Luther King was the youngest person to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. He won it for fighting against racial segregation and discrimination through nonviolent ways

He has been awarded at least fifty honorary degrees from colleges in the4 United States He was given the American Liberties Medallion by the American Jewish Committee.

10 Interesting Facts Martin Luther King Jr. was a Civil Rights activist and is considered to be the leader of the Civil Rights Movement of the late 1950’s and 1960’s. Many see him as the greatest orator of U.S. history.

11 Interesting Facts In 1934, five years after his birth, his parents realized that his name had been recorded wrong on his birth certificate. It said Michael King, so his name had to be legally changed to Martin Luther King Jr. In 1939, Martin sang with his church choir in Atlanta at the premier of the movie ‘Gone With The Wind’
