1
Polynomials Continuing the work from last time (1.4)
2
POD At tables, give two expressions, one that is a polynomial and one that isn’t. Put them on a small white board. For the polynomial, identify the number of terms, its degree, and leading coefficient. For the non-polynomial, explain why it’s not one.
3
Multiplying binomials What’s a binomial again? What method do we use to multiply them? What do we do to work in the opposite direction? Let’s try it on CAS.

5
Factoring polynomials It’s all about finding the pattern. Each table do two of the following by hand: What is the first step for the last one?

7
Rational expressions What are rational expressions again? Before we work with them, let’s review fractions. How do we work these operations?
8
Rational expressions Use factoring to simplify rational expressions. Try this one– how do we multiply them?

Rational expressions Use factoring to simplify rational expressions. How do we add them? Does the denominator hold any possible factors of the numerator?

Reminder: Journal Prompt #1 This is also posted on the wiki… Pretend you have a little brother or sister in 3rd grade, who asks you to explain what multiplication is. Tell him or her what you know, and be as clear as you know how. Remember, this is third grade.
