MAAS Established by JISC in 2000 A partnership service of the British Universities Film & Video Council (http://www.bufvc.ac.uk/) and the Open University (http://www.open.ac.uk/)http://www.bufvc.ac.uk/http://www.open.ac.uk/ Two arms: the Managing Agent and the Advisory Service

MAAS The Managing Agent to acquire and promote the use of electronic moving picture and sound resources in the JISC Distributed National Electronic Resource (DNER) - or Information Environment (IE) The Advisory Service to provide information on the technical aspects regarding delivery of these resources

EDINA http://edina.ac.uk 1983: Founded as small data library at University of Edinburgh 1995/6: Appointed a JISC national data centre in 1995/6 – with BIDS (Bath) and MIDAS (Manchester) Selected by JISC in 2002 to host and deliver 300 hours of film/video - for download

Whats in EMOL? Currently 13 collections of film and video About 300 hours consisting of c1,200 titles, increasing to c500 hours by the end of July Films are fully downloadable, either in full or as segments

Subscription Free of charge to UK further and higher education institutions (until further notice) Requires completion and signing of institutional sub-licence document Service site representative and technical support contact must be nominated and details submitted Institution can then nominate local support staff as required
