Assessment Options Inventory checklists Anecdotal records Formal test data (Nationally norm-referenced test for formal identification) Peer nominations Parent interviews/questionnaires Teacher recommendations Student awards specific to gifted categories Other valid and reliable documentation

Categories of Giftedness General Intellectual (advanced reasoning) Specific Academic Aptitude (math, language arts, science, and social studies) Creative Thinking Leadership Visual/Performing Arts (drama, music, visual arts, & dance)

Testing General Intellectual- Raven and/or Naglieri (both nonverbal tests) Specific Academic Aptitude- Stanford, GRADE, and CTBS Creative Thinking- Williams Leadership- Self assessment Performing Arts- Not tested; based on recommendations, awards, and critiques of performances Visual Arts- Art portfolio; scored by art educators
