STATE EXAM REVIEW 4 SCENARIOS

I-Classification Classification: classification is a systematic way of grouping things according to a common feature/characteristic You are given six plastic children toy animals (A-F) and you begin to observe them for structures that are the same and different. Make a list now
3
Classification 1 Separate the six toys into separate box 1 and 2 by creating a question. The question must not use the features of color, size and material. Write the question and separate into box 1 and 2
4
Classification 2 For the toys in box 1, create a question that would further separate them into either Box 3 or Box 4. Your question must result in at least one toy in box 3 and one in box 4 Write the question and separate into box 3 and 4
5
Classification 3 For the toys in box 2, create a question that would separate them into either Box 5 or Box 6. You must have at least one toy in box 5, and one in Box 6. Write the question and separate into box 5 and 6

II- The Microscope An object will be placed on a grid under the microscope. You must measure it based on the fact that each square 1mm in width and height What happens under low and high power to field of view?
7
III-Measurement & Data Recording You are given an experiment where you will measure the distance a cup will move When a round metal ball will slides down a ramp. You will set the ruler up at these distances: 12cm, 14cm, 16cm, 18cm, 26cm
8
Measurement & Data Recording Record the distance the cup moves to the nearest 0.1 cm Record on chart and plot on graph to the nearest Whole Cm. Connect X If released from 13cm? 30cm? Extrapolate from graph If the cup moved only 20 cm what was the release point? Extrapolate from graph If given a ping pong ball, how would data differ?
9
IV- Density Equation D=m/v Use a triple beam balance to weigh a wooden block. Get M Use a ruler to measure L x W x H to get V Solve for D Would your block float in water given that the density of water is 1.0 g/cm 3
10
Density applications If the block was cut in half what would happen? Explain Block 1 is 0.8g/cm3 Draw where the block would be in the water
