2. During this lecture we shall discuss: Rights of Way The Rules at Night Avoiding other Aircraft

3. Rights of Way Very similar to the highway code, stops cars hitting each other. These rules govern how aircraft move about the sky.

4. Rights of Way Balloons have the right of way over ALL other aircraft.

5. Rights of Way Gliders have the right of way over powered aircraft and airships

6. Rights of Way Airships must give way to gliders and balloons.

7. Rights of Way Powered conventional aircraft must give way to balloons, gliders and airships.

8. Rights of Way When 2 identical types of aircraft are approaching, they both alter course to the right.

9. Rights of Way When 2 identical types of aircraft are converging on the same path, the left aircraft gives way.

10. Rights of Way When an aircraft wishes to overtake it moves to the right If both aircraft are gliders, the overtaking glider can go left or right.

11. Rights of Way An aircraft in takeoff or landing has right of way over those aircraft in flight or on the ground. When 2 aircraft are landing the lower has the right of way. Aircraft being taxied give way to those being towed. Vehicles not towing aircraft give way to taxiing aircraft
