6 Business Business is any organisation that uses resources to meet the needs of customers by providing a product or service that they demand Business need various factors of production to produce the goods and service to meet the needs of customers

10 Career Career is not just a job or the type of work that a person perform Career spans an individuals entire working life and includes not only behaviour, but also attitudes towards work A career develops in accordance with these attitudes and behaviours

11 Planning a career Planning a career is an ongoing process that can help you manage your learning and development Career planning is the continuous process of Thinking about your interests, values, skills and preferences Exploring the life, work and learning options available to you Ensuring that your work fits with your personal circumstances; and Continuously fine tuning your work and learning plans to help you manage the changes in your life and the world of work

13 Step 1- knowing yourself Begin thinking about Where are you now? Where you want to be? How you are going to get there? What do I want out of a job or a career? What are my strengths? What is important to me? By now you will have a clear idea of your work or learning goal and your individual preferences

14 Step 2: Finding out This steps is about exploring the occupations and learning areas that interest you Ask yourself how do my skills and interests match up with these occupations Where are the gaps? What options do I have to gain these skills or qualify for these occupations? What skills do I need? Where is the work? At the end of this step you will have a list of preferred occupations and/or learning options

15 Step 3: Making decisions This steps involves comparing your options, narrowing down your choices and thinking about what suits you best at this point of time Ask yourself What are my best work options? How do they match my skills, interests and values? How do they fit with current situation and responsibilities? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each option? At the end of this step you will have narrowed down your options and have more of an idea of what you need to do next to help you achieve your goals

16 Step 4: Taking action Here you plan the steps you need to take to put your plan into action Use all you have learnt about your skills, interests and values together with information you have gathered about the world of work to create your plan.

28 An entrepreneur is someone who takes a financial risk in starting a business to earn a profit. Key factors in starting your own business are….. having a real desire to be your own boss and developing a good initial plan having special skills and abilities and innovative ideas

29 Entrepreneur Any one could be entrepreneur. It is lot more about inner drive rather than outward appearance Albert Einstein: the way he dresses At any age: Colonel Sanders of KFC One who make impossible possible: The Wright brothers Risk taker

30 Characteristics of successful entrepreneur Innovative and creative: doesn’t necessarily have to be inventor to be entrepreneur. For example Steve Jobs. Commitment and self motivation: need to be willing work for many hours. Keen ambition to succeed Multi skilled Leadership skills: need to lead by example and should have personality and skills that people in the business will follow. Self-confidence and ability to bounce back Risk taking: investing their own savings in the new business. Positive attitude
