2 When Ezra opened the book Nehemiah 8 1 And all the people gathered as one man at the square which was in front of the Water Gate, and they asked Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses which the Lord had given to Israel. 2 Then Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly of men, women and all who could listen with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month. 3 He read from it before the square which was in front of the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of men and women, those who could understand; and all the people were attentive to the book of the law.

3 When Ezra opened the book Nehemiah 8 4 Ezra the scribe stood at a wooden podium which they had made for the purpose. 5 Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people for he was standing above all the people; and when he opened it, all the people stood up. 6 Then Ezra blessed the Lord the great God. And all the people answered, "Amen, Amen!" while lifting up their hands; then they bowed low and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground. 7 Also…the Levites, explained the law to the people while the people remained in their place. 8 They read from the book, from the law of God, translating to give the sense so that they understood the reading.

6 When Ezra opened the book He and others focused attention upon God Then Ezra blessed the LORD the great God. For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 1 Cor. 2:2

7 When Ezra opened the book He and others brought the law Then Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly…Ezra opened the book For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation…For in it the righteousness of God is revealed Rom. 1:16

9 When Ezra opened the book He and others caused understanding They read from the book,…translating to give the sense so that they understood the reading. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 2 Tim. 2:15

10 When Ezra opened the book The people requested the assembly they asked Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses which the LORD had given to Israel. Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your law. Ps. 119:18

11 When Ezra opened the book The people were united in their purpose And all the people gathered as one man at the square which was in front of the Water Gate, Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord. Acts 10:22

12 When Ezra opened the book The assembly was mixed Then Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly of men, women and all who could listen with understanding… in the presence of men and women, those who could understand; Joshua…read before all the assembly of Israel with the women and the little ones. 13 When Ezra opened the book The people showed emotion All the people were weeping when they heard the words of the law. Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brethren, what shall we do?" Acts 2:37

14 When Ezra opened the book The people were respectful Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people for he was standing above all the people; and when he opened it, all the people stood up. Then Ezra blessed the LORD the great God. And all the people answered, "Amen, Amen!" while lifting up their hands; then they bowed low and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground. Take this book of the law and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, Deut. 31:26

15 When Ezra opened the book The people expressed agreement with God’s law all the people answered, "Amen, Amen!" And all the people shall say “Amen” Deut. 27:26 (Israel’s response at Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerizim)

16 When Ezra opened the book The people were attentive He read from it before the square which was in front of the Water Gate from early morning until midday,…and all the people were attentive to the book of the law. He read all the words of the law, the blessings and the curse Josh. 8:33 (Israel at Mt. Ebal and Mt. Gerizim)
