WELCOME Grade 4 Camp Parent Information Evening The Old Priory Beechworth

GRADE 4 CAMP 2015. The Old Priory is 287km from Melbourne and is centrally located on 3 acres in historic Beechworth. The camp is located 500 metres from town in a quiet area

THE VENUE The Old Priory is an Accredited Venue for school camps It has been conducting School Camp Programs for over 25 years. All students and staff are accommodated within a comfortable, safe environment, all under the one roof (separate male and female dormitories)

WHEN: The Grade 4 Camp will be taking place from the Wednesday 14 th to Friday 16 th October in Term Four, 2015.

ACTIVITIES: Eldorado Museum Blacksmith demonstration Beechworth goal Historic courthouse Telegraph Station Burke Museum Beechworth Honey Beechworth Sweet company Damper making Night activities – Evo’s Camp Fire & Lazy Harry show

HOW MUCH: Costs still being finalised: At this stage the cost of the camp will be $320 to $340 per student. This includes: Buses to and from the camp (with seat belts for all passengers) All food for the 3 days cooked by camp staff (except lunch and snacks on 1 st day) All Entrance fees to attractions Camp staff and teachers will be involved in the supervision of night time activities.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: At this stage the cost of the camp is still being finalised – indication is $320 to $340 per student. Deposit of $100 is required by Friday, 21 st August 2015 Full payment is required by Friday, 18 th September 2015 Options for payment are: (i) Lump sum (ii) Drip feed payments to the Office CSEF assistance of $125 available to concession card holders (see Office for forms) (CSEF – Camp, Sports & Excursion Fund)

FOOD: The camp caters for all meals in their restaurant quality kitchen. All allergies can be catered for if given advance warning via medical forms returned to school. Parents can contact Camp staff directly if they wish to discuss their child’s specific allergies.

WHAT TO BRING A ‘What to Bring List’ will be sent home towards the end of Term 3 Please remember that an extra large suitcase is not the best idea Remember: It’s 3 days away not 3 weeks

WHAT CAN PARENTS DO? To help prepare your child for camp you can: Be positive and encouraging in the lead up to camp Encourage your child to sleep away from home - grandparents, friends etc. Pack their own belongings for these trips Practise putting away their sleeping bag Practise sorting clean from dirty clothes.
