A DVANCED I NTERNATIONAL C OURSE I N L OCAL E NVIRONMENTAL M ANAGEMENT I N U RBAN A REAS 2010 A FRICA OBJECTIVE(S)
4
A DVANCED I NTERNATIONAL C OURSE I N L OCAL E NVIRONMENTAL M ANAGEMENT I N U RBAN A REAS 2010 A FRICA Outputs The tangible products or services provided in a project – the tangible evidence of the objective. Outputs should be SMART You can only know if you have a SMART output if you can measure it somehow. Outputs are usually the easiest thing to conceive of – but not always! Outputs must be logically linked to the objectives – they are not done for their own sake!

A DVANCED I NTERNATIONAL C OURSE I N L OCAL E NVIRONMENTAL M ANAGEMENT I N U RBAN A REAS 2010 A FRICA Activities The tasks that must be completed in order to produce each of the project’s outputs. List as much as possible in chronological order.

A DVANCED I NTERNATIONAL C OURSE I N L OCAL E NVIRONMENTAL M ANAGEMENT I N U RBAN A REAS 2010 A FRICA A common structure in the text: … The project objective is …… The outputs and activities to achieve the objective are as follows: 1.Output 1….. 1.1 Activity 1 ….. 1.2 Activity 2 …. 2. Output 2 2.1 Activity 1…. 2.2 Activity 2 … There may be enough detail here to give an idea of the kinds and amounts of inputs, but usually there is no list or specific budget amount mentioned here. What is important is to mention WHO will do what, and if appropriate where and when. Reference should be made to the Gantt diagram. Describe the Outputs clearly, in quantitative form if possible, & where appropriate show targets and target dates. Link to objective(s)

A DVANCED I NTERNATIONAL C OURSE I N L OCAL E NVIRONMENTAL M ANAGEMENT I N U RBAN A REAS 2010 A FRICA Matrix: Input x Indicators Cell Critical cell: list all inputs - personnel, budget, in-kind contributions, as well as responsible agents for each. Link to budget, personnel list, Gantt diagram etc. FOR NEXT WEEK…
