Is ASAS correctly positioned in SESAR and Next Gen? New airborne separation standards?

5. 4 th Workshop, Amsterdam, 23 - 25 April 2007 SESAR and NextGen Both describe ASAS applications for spacing, sequencing and merging, and for cooperative separation. Self-separation is considered in both, but only for 2020 and beyond, and without the emphasis I believe it deserves. If a man was placed on the moon a mere 8 years after the goal was set, could we not achieve self- separation in 18 years (2025) if we really set our minds to it? You must go and see NLR’s GRACE simulation, it is very impressive.
