Leading Edge Architecture for Prototyping Systems An Overview

2 Who wants product data… What data do they want … When do they want it?

3 What is LEAPS? The NAVSEA Product Modeling Environment L eading E dge A rchitecture for P rototyping S ystems, is the product model repository used by the Naval Sea Systems Command. LEAPS is based on an extensible information meta-model. It is designed to provide product model data to support modeling and simulation tools used by Navy Ship Designers. The current focus is concept studies, analysis of alternatives, and operational scenarios.

4 LEAPS … its more than just early stage design LEAPS will be the single source of authoritative data for all pre milestone B activities. LEAPS will be used by NAVSEA to support validation of the design as required to provide oversight during the detail design / Ship Production phase. LEAPS will be the authoritative source of data in support of the Situation Incident Room upon delivery of the ship. LEAPS supports the ENTIRE ships lifecycle.

5 LEAPS Applications Some M&S/Tools/Life Cycle Applications use LEAPS as their Product Model Data Repository ASSETSHCP

6 LEAPS Applications Other M&S/Tools/Life Cycle Applications use translators to interface with LEAPS FKSNavy Common Cost Model

7 ISE-6 project added STEP AP239 PLCS import translator for LEAPS Allows Shipboard or Shore visualization of Logistics information within the design 3D Product Model Can be linked to SCLSIS data delivered in parallel from Design Agent to the Navy. LEAPS AP239 Translator Overview
