Narrative Text Narrative text is text that is written to tell a story
Narrative text includes fiction text, like stories Narrative text also includes some kinds of nonfiction, like biographies

Poetic Text Poetic text often uses sound devices such as rhyme and alliteration Poetic text also uses figurative language such as similes, metaphors, and personification

Informational Text Informational text is written to give information
Informational text includes directions, articles, and other texts written to explain new ideas

Informational Text Some kinds of informational text can be called EXPOSITORY text Expository text is informational text that is written using a text structure like compare and contrast, description, cause and effect, or so on

Sandy looked out her window. The ground was coated in white! “I hope that we don’t have school today!” she exclaimed, jumping out of bed. “Time to shovel the driveway!” her brother announced, coming into the room. “Hurry up!” This is an example of narrative text Can you find the dialogue?
