2 Project Summary Doors Open Days of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings in 2013 and 2014 Disseminating the common EU challenge and the way to meet EPBD requirements 10 partners: –Bond Beter Leefmilieu Vlaanderen vzw (BE) –Beratungs- und Service-Gesellschaft mbH (DE) –GreenDependent Institute Nonprofit Ltd (HU) –Energikontor Sydost (SE) –Prioriterre (FR) –O.Oe. Energiesparverband (AT) –Projects in Motion Ltd. (MT) –Krajowa Agencja Poszanowania Energii S.A. (PL) –Gradbeni inštitut ZRMK, d.o.o. (SI) –Energy Action Limited (IE) 1,440 exhibited buildings were visited by 25,870 people 76,5% of the visitors will implement good practices Estimated carbon emission reduction of 46,800 ton and an energy saving of 217,120 MWh by 2020

3 Background User needs and market barriers for nearly zero buildings (NZB) -Lack of information -Unwillingness to change -Dull and technical image of NZBs The ultimate objective of NZB2021 is changing building attitude through –A low barrier method of sharing information –Demand driven change of the building sector –An approach that puts the focus on the people (house owner, builder)

4 Objectives and main steps Objectives: –Giving thorough information to the broad public and potential builders and public authorities about NZB’s –Reaching a broad audience for the Doors Open Days –Making sure the target audience is convinced –Wide dissemination of the common European challenge Main steps: –Setting up a common webtool with participating buildings database and subscription tool –Setting up regional/national coalitions of stakeholders supporting the campaign –Acquiring the exhibited buildings (setting up a call, carrying out a quality check and submission in the database) –Organizing Doors Open Days (helpdesk, distribution of communication materials) –Organizing international site visits for opinion makers –Developing communication materials (brochures, mini-documentaries) in a common campaign style, media dissemination of the campaigns and the international site visits

5 Impacts 1,440 exhibited buildings were visited by 25,870 people 76,5% of the visitors will implement good practices Estimated carbon emission reduction of 46,800 ton by 2020 Estimated energy saving of 217,120 MWh by 2020 92,5% of the visitors were pleased with the information heard.
