7. The Ribbon, Tabs, and Groups The Ribbon, located below the title bar ◦ Contains the commands you need to complete a tasks ◦ Arranged on command tabs according to the tasks you want to perform ◦ Home tab is selected by default Once a tab is selected, command buttons are displayed in groups

Dialog Box Launcher and Dialog Boxes Located in the lower-right corner of the group Clicking this button will display a dialog box ◦ A window that presents information about the current settings for a command and allows you to make changes Some command buttons display ellipsis points (…) ◦ Clicking a button with ellipsis points will display another dialog box

9. Shortcut Menu and Mini Toolbar Shortcut menu – provides a quick way to display commands you need while working Mini toolbar – displays buttons you can use to quickly change the look of text or data

10. Status bar Status bar, located at the bottom of the program window ◦ Contains information about the file on which you are working, View shortcut buttons and Zoom control ◦ Can customize the status bar to display options

11. View Buttons and Zoom View shortcut buttons enable you to view your file in different ways The Zoom feature allows you to get a close-up view of your document or see more of the page at a reduced size

12. ScreenTips Small windows that display descriptive information when you rest the mouse pointer on a command or control An enhanced ScreenTip, is a larger window that displays more descriptive text.

Get Help Each program in Microsoft Office has a separate Help window Can access Help only for the program in which you are working Press F1, The Help window appears Online Help ◦ If you are connected to the Internet, you can get online Help to browse or search for the most up-to-date Help, templates, and training
