7. What is a sinkhole? A sink hole is a natural depression or hole in the earth's surface caused by water erosion. They are formed especially where the earth surface is made of limestone or any other carbonate rock. Water dissolves these rocks making the land above heavy and eventually making it collapse to form a sink hole.
