Personal Observations Contraband cigarette is popular among teenagers as it is the cheaper option. The authorities should use media to their advantage and spread the message, so that teenagers would think twice before buying it. Shi Qi It’s sad to see the teenagers smoke using their parents’ hard earned money. I’ll do my part by dissuading my peers pick up smoking, let alone puffing duty-unpaid cigarettes. Yi Ping

Personal Observations Many teenagers have been misled into believing that smoking would not affect their health. I would like to see more educational talks in school to address this ignorance. I’ll play my part to spread the message to my loved ones. I would also like to suggest Singapore invest in research on anti-nicotine drug or vaccine, making smokers lose their addiction. Hong Swee

Personal Observations I feel that one of the reasons is low self-esteem. A lack of social support from their loved ones tends to create stress on an individual. Perhaps, they find that smoking is the only resort to relieve stress. We should encourage our friends to have a healthy and active lifestyle. I also wish that parents can be a role models and quit smoking. Melissa I think one should quit smoking whether it’s for the sake of himself or loved ones. We need to teach the younger ones how harmful smoking can be and what the consequences will be when they caught smoking. Sim Ning
