Basic information about Riga Riga – the capital of the Republic of Latvia, located at the crossroads between the East and the West 750,000 permanent residents, which constitutes approximately one third of Latvia’s total population City budget 2003 - € 352.3 million Riga accounts for around 50% of the total industrial output in Latvia

What is e-Riga? e-Riga is a complex modernisation and restructurisation project that covers all fields of municipal operations Estimated project duration (1 st phase) – five years Estimated budget – € 21.2 million over five years

Expected results of e-Riga Municipality change from function-oriented to client- oriented organisation Introduction of “Single Point of Access” policy and “Multi Channel Access” strategy for providing municipal services to citizens and employees Building information society and adding extra value to the city investment attraction

Project history Adoption of the Riga City Council e-City project vision document on August 2002 Selection of the Strategic Partner – consortium of Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Ernst&Young Choice of “fast planning model” – parallel work on overall project documentation and first specific projects Development of the project strategy, new portal and first pilot projects
