Genres Definition: a group of films that employ similar techniques, plot lines, characters, etc. In the US, limited: Represent universal themes and morals Combine to create “fresh” approach while still meeting the standard expectations Satisfy movie- goers Make more money Provide more films

Example: SOUND Alarm goes off repeatedly RELATIONSHIP TO THEMES heightened sense of anxiety, pressed for time Select the 5 most important from each the opening and closing. For each sound, list the relationship of that sound to the main themes of the movie.
