Working hours Excessive overtime: work for 12 houre a day,only have a rest day every 13 days Sometimes, overtime work in a month is 140 hours. No rest day at all. Deduction of overtime premium: if the monthly overtime work is more than 80 hours, overtime work beyond 80 hours is not recognized.

Background Information Wage The basic wage of frontline workers at Foxconn is about 1000 yuan, which is just slightly more than minimum wage. Basic wage is far below living wage

Physiological needs Can be satisfied indirectly by money earned from jobs. If they don’t work overtime, they just can get the base salary about 900 Yuan, which is not enough to satisfy their physiological needs well.

Security needs: be kept free from both physical harm and economic disaster Employees suffer great mental stress because they will be injured at work. Their hands can be easily cut during the working procedure. In 2009,several injuries happened. Therefore, Foxconn can ’ t satisfy some employees' needs to be kept from physical harm.

Security needs: be kept free from economic disaster According to a staff from management, he shows ways that Foxconn uses to dismiss workers in a disguised form. Such as: 1.Let employees have long vacations without pay; All these show Foxconn can’t satisfy employees needs to be kept from economic disaster—losing their jobs. 2.No matter how staff perform in probation, they will get fired. 3.Rotate employees from their familiar working environment to a new environment, making employees to resign. 4.Carry out reinspection to employees' education, experiences and qualifications to find excuses to dismiss workers.

Social needs: need companionship and friendship Workers repeat their work 12 hours every workday with no chatting with each other , giving them mental pressure. Ten employees live in one dormitory but they don ’ t have much communication with each other. Imply that workers needs to have companionship and friendship can ’ t be satisfied.
