Out of our Chapter 5 “Evolution by Random Processes” category - Which explains the situation with the wolves on Isle Royal?

Population ecology Population ecology studies: 1. organisms from the point of view of the size and structure of their populations 2. studies the interaction of organisms with their environments by measuring properties of populations rather than the behavior of individual organisms Properties of populations include (i) Population size (size) (ii) Population density (density) (iii) Patterns of dispersion (dispersion) (iv) Sex Ratio (v) Age structure (vi) Limits on population growth (limits)
9
Goals: 1.Scientific process of estimating population size 2. Discuss and think about benefits and challenges with different types of population dispersions 3. Factors that affect the density of a population
12
Exit Card 1.Name 3 general models that are used to estimate a population’s size. 2.How do element cycles (carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, etc.) affect a population size 3.Should humans intervene with at-risk populations that have not been disturbed by humans?explain.
